Rodrigo Aliphat holds a PhD in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), awarded with honors, and is a member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers. He specializes in industrial sectors and productive development in emerging economies. He is a member of the Young Scholars Initiative and the Post-Keynesian Economic Society, and a sustainable development expert with SDSN Mexico.
He has worked as a World Bank consultant and served on UNAM’s Planning Council and University Council. He was the founding director of the Division of Development Studies and coordinated the team that established the Master’s in Economic Development at CIDE, where he is currently a research professor.
His research covers industrial productivity, employment and inequality, input–output and social accounting matrices, and import and export demand. His books include The Relevance of Mexico’s Mining Sector to National Economic Development and Industrial Policy in the Twenty-First Century.
